Buchanan

Every summer, nearby Buchanan hosts a series of concerts featuring a wide range of music, including Country & Western, Rock, Oldies, Swing, Blues and Bluegrass. Many of these outdoor concerts feature nationally known acts as well as the best local talent. The Tin Shop Theater features great productions of well-known musicals and dramas.

The Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve, located nearby at 13988 Range Line Road, Niles, MI 49120, is delightful in any season. It features a 55-acre Nature Preserve complete with beautiful and well-marked trails. After your hike, reward yourself with a delicious lunch at Fernwood’s Café, with a view you are certain to enjoy. Another second home community very close to Buchanan is St. Joe's Riverbend Landings located just north of town on Red Bud Trail and situated right on a beautiful, very wide section of the St. Joe River.

Buchanan has led the area in downtown revivals, with several chic, upscale shops opened in the last few years. One of our favorites is ALAN ROBANDT, just minutes from Lake Chapin Shores at 114 Front Street. Alan's eclectic inventory is so amazing that it's hard to describe its mix of 18th, 19th, and 20th century mirrors, lighting, objects, and furniture. The Union Coffee House is a great place to find live entertainment. Check their website for the current schedule, but most of their concerts/shows begin at 8pm ET. In addition to some of the best coffees, teas and other housemade drinks, it offers cafe food and a great atmosphere - and the friendliest staff around - for casual meals with family and friends.

Tin Shop Theatre
The Tin Shop was built in 1865-66 by a Buchanan merchant.  It is located at the corner of Days Avenue and Roe Street.  A different play is featured each month of the summer season.  A charming way to experience a local theater production.  Find out what's playing this weekend by calling 269-695-6464.
